About the position

The Lead Transplant Donor Services Supervisor will oversee a team of On-Call Transplant Coordinators, guiding them in the screening of deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs at Penn State Health. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including organ procurement organizations and transplant surgeons, to ensure effective coordination of potential transplants while maintaining regulatory compliance. The position primarily operates remotely but may require on-site presence as needed, and involves working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a professional role model and mentor for On-Call Transplant Coordinators.
  • Screen deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs (heart, kidney, liver).
  • Collaborate with organ procurement organizations, transplant surgeons, and other medical staff to coordinate potential transplants.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Manage the scheduling and operational aspects of the transplant coordination process.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in solid organ transplantation required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Intensive care or organ procurement organization experience.
  • CCTC certification.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function independently within the limits of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
