About the position
The Lead On-Call Transplant Coordinator at Penn State Health will serve as a professional role model and mentor, guiding a team of On-Call Transplant Coordinators. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including organ procurement organizations and transplant surgeons, to screen deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs. The position requires working 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights, including holidays and weekends, with a primarily remote work setup, but on-site availability as needed.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a professional role model and mentor for On-Call Transplant Coordinators.
- Collaborate with organ procurement organizations and transplant surgeons.
- Screen deceased donor organ offers for solid organ transplant programs (heart, kidney, liver).
- Coordinate potential transplants with various departments including operating room, inpatient units, and labs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with OPTN, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in solid organ transplantation required.
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
