About the position

The Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO) position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves leading a team of Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public at Tweed - New Haven Airport. The role requires overseeing security screening procedures, managing workloads, and responding to security incidents, all while maintaining compliance with TSA directives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of at least three full-performance level Transportation Security Officers (TSOs).
  • Identify, distribute, and balance workloads and tasks among employees.
  • Provide input to supervisors regarding employee performance and other HR matters.
  • Implement security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives.
  • Assist with investigations of incidents and prepare incident reports.
  • Respond to breaches of security and emergency situations.
  • Train team members and monitor their work progress.
  • Represent the team in communications with supervisors to obtain necessary resources.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Completion of a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Pass pre-employment Drug Screening and subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Selective Service registration required.
  • Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Meet and maintain medical requirements for screening work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in security work, aviation screener work, or X-ray technician work.
  • Specialized experience in frontline security protection of air travelers.
