About the position

The Lead UI Developer at the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) will play a pivotal role in guiding the front-end development of the organization's digital assets, primarily focusing on websites. This position involves leading a team of UI developers, mentoring them, and ensuring that all web development projects adhere to design specifications while being functionally optimized. The role is hybrid, based in Austin, and emphasizes collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the user experience and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead web development for TASB's digital assets, primarily websites, from layout to function.
  • Act as team lead for UI developers, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Develop enterprise-level projects using a headless CMS and reference architecture.
  • Build websites and proofs of concept that adhere to design specifications and are functionally optimized.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA accessibility standards in all web development projects.
  • Oversee and contribute to the design system by creating reusable code and libraries.
  • Develop new user-facing features optimized for speed and scalability.
  • Validate user input before passing it to back-end developers.
  • Coordinate with design, content, project management, and IT resources.
  • Contribute to requirements gathering, definition, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and executive management.
  • Stay current with trends in the developer field and apply expertise in graphic editors and production.
  • Mentor and teach others on best practices and concepts.
  • Enhance and improve existing processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 7+ years of related UI Developer experience.
  • Experience with client-side JS frameworks (preferably Vue).
  • Experience with Node/NPM or Yarn.
  • Experience with APIs and consuming data.
  • Experience using CI/CD deployment tools (preferably Azure pipeline/deployment processes).
  • Experience with structured-content-based CMS.
  • Strong front-end/UX development skills (HTML/CSS/JS/Bootstrap/jQuery).
  • Responsive user-interface experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience with C#/.NET development.
  • Understanding and experience with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics implementations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Handlebars/PUG or similar templating language experience preferred.
  • ASP Razor Pages preferred.
  • Knowledge with Azure services (cognitive search, maps, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to work with databases.
  • Knowledge of Kontent.ai experience preferred.
  • Modern .NET application design patterns skills preferred.
