About the position

The Lead UX Researcher at PayPal is responsible for uncovering user insights that inform the design of user-centered experiences. This role involves employing various research methods to enhance product trust and security while contributing to a positive brand experience. The researcher will collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence design decisions and ensure that customer needs are prioritized throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Identify research opportunities and scope program requirements for product teams.
  • Independently own and drive research programs from beginning to end, including defining research questions and methodologies.
  • Present compelling insights and recommendations to teams and leaders, facilitating constructive debate.
  • Leverage insights from various research functions and data sources throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Act as a liaison between design, product management, and marketing teams to drive alignment.
  • Facilitate workshops and design sprints, influencing product and design strategy.
  • Drive strategic change initiatives and advocate for user-centric approaches within the Experience Design community.
  • Mentor other researchers and model a growth mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years or Master's degree with 6+ years in user experience, design, research, or related fields.
  • Experience across digital products and platforms, preferably in financial services or e-commerce.
  • Proficient in a variety of research methods and approaches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with card sorting, tree tests, diary studies, surveys, interviews, and usability testing.
  • Expertise in financial services and e-commerce.
