About the position

As a Lead Product Designer within Target's Guest UX Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experience for our guests. This position places you at the forefront of Target's evolving digital landscape, where you will be responsible for enhancing the search experience across various digital platforms. Your work will involve connecting emerging technologies with experience strategies, such as conversational and prompt-based experiences, to create user-centric solutions that drive business growth. You will employ human-centered design methodologies to understand guest needs, balance business objectives, and deliver exceptional experiences from concept to execution. In this role, you will develop and contribute to the UX strategy and vision for product experiences across digital platforms. Your influence will be crucial in identifying and pursuing user-centric outcomes, facilitating collaboration among cross-functional teams, and creating design deliverables that represent various phases of the design process, including journey maps, wireframes, user flows, UI designs, and prototypes. You will also guide the design process and mentor junior designers, ensuring that all design work meets high standards of craft, including accessibility and user research. Your responsibilities will extend to advancing a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams, as well as building a network of relationships that enable your vision in service of enhancing the guest experience at Target. This position may be performed remotely or in a hybrid arrangement, allowing flexibility based on the needs of the team and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and contribute to UX strategy and vision for product experiences across digital platforms.
  • Influence investment, collaborations, and the balance of new vs. iteration.
  • Identify and pursue user-centric outcomes within and across products.
  • Facilitate multiple cross-functional working teams and collaborate across design and product teams.
  • Create design deliverables such as journey maps, wireframes, user flows, UI designs, and prototypes.
  • Guide the design process and mentor junior designers.
  • Investigate using both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Maintain high standards of craft, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams.
  • Build a network of relationships to enable your vision in service of the guest experience and Target as a whole.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a product designer with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product design work.
  • Expert skills in UX and product design, structuring and planning work, and owning the design process.
  • Advanced proficiency in product design and prototyping tools, particularly Figma.
  • Advanced strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively use data and insights to set direction and communicate approach.
  • Ability to balance the need for near-term solutions and long-term vision.
  • Expertise in communicating how design connects to, serves, and improves business outcomes.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset.
