About the position

Our client, a prenatal and women's health diagnostics company, is seeking a Lead UX Product Designer to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing startup that is pre-IPO and be a part of building out a Direct to Consumer product. The ideal candidate will be located in the Bay Area and work in a hybrid model, but the company is open to candidates nationwide who can work remotely. This position does not offer sponsorship. As the Lead UX Product Designer, you will own and manage all aspects of UX Design, which plays a critical role in the diagnostic testing field. You will design a world-class, seamless, end-to-end user experience for both physical lab operations (used by internal members of our clinical lab) and digital experiences (used by external healthcare providers and patients), including ownership of their direct-to-consumer genetic testing product. As the only designer in the company, you will collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, the clinical team, marketing, and company leadership to implement various design solutions that significantly improve the user experience across the board. This is a high-impact role with tremendous growth potential, and your responsibilities will expand quickly as the company scales.

Responsibilities

  • Create unique, clean, and delightful experiences for all stakeholders.
  • Deeply understand user behaviors (external customers and internal users) and solve pain points through better UX design.
  • Drive the design vision of the company, collaborating closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Product Marketing leaders.
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to plan and create a backlog, push features and design updates, and QA and fix bugs.
  • Design and iterate solutions with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Present work effectively through prototypes, user journey diagrams, etc., to guide decision-making in a thoughtful, empathic, and productive way.
  • Utilize quantitative and qualitative data to create user-centered designs.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product design experience, with at least 1+ years independently leading UX projects.
  • Experience in diagnostic testing, genetics, or biotech is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to think and articulate objectively.
  • Extensive experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Overflow, and Zeplin.
  • Experience with analytics tools like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and Segment.
