The Lead Visual role at West Elm is designed to provide daily support to the management team by performing essential opening and closing routines, ensuring that the store meets its financial goals, and that associates deliver World-Class service to our guests. This position is pivotal in maintaining operational functions within the assigned area of accountability, particularly in sales, to ensure the store meets company expectations. As a Lead Visual, you will be responsible for effectively performing operational functions, which include opening and closing the store, managing register functions, and overseeing back office procedures. You will ensure that the store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back of house standards during manager-on-duty shifts. Additionally, you will take on the Selling Captain role, serving as a role model for sales associates in sales generation and customer service, prioritizing the customer experience above all. Utilizing Selling Essentials and training resources, you will educate the team on product knowledge, improve selling skills, and achieve business goals. Your role will also involve providing training and coaching expertise to associates in selling, product knowledge, clienteling, and in-home services. It is essential to maintain an environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity and respect, in accordance with our People First Philosophy. This position requires effective communication, organization, and leadership skills, along with a proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples. You will need to be active, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting for extended periods of time throughout the workday. A background in retail sales with shift supervision experience is preferred, along with experience in home-related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities, particularly in specialty retail.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 1-3 years retail sales experience with shift supervision experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience in home related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities preferred (specialty retail preferred, but not required).
  • Effective communication, organization and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples.
  • Ability to be active, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching and lifting for extended periods of time, required throughout the workday.
