About the position

As a Lead Visual at Williams Sonoma, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of our customers' lives at home by ensuring that our store meets the highest standards of visual presentation and customer service. Your primary responsibility will be to support the management team in daily operations, which includes performing opening and closing routines, supervising staff, and ensuring that the store meets its financial goals. You will be expected to provide World-Class service to our guests while maintaining operational excellence in your assigned area of accountability. In this role, you will effectively perform operational functions such as opening and closing the store, managing register functions, and overseeing back office procedures. You will also ensure that the store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back of house standards during your shifts as the manager-on-duty. As a Selling Captain, you will serve as a role model for sales associates, prioritizing the customer experience and utilizing Selling Essentials and training resources to educate your team on product knowledge and selling skills. Your leadership will be vital in providing training and coaching to associates in selling techniques, product knowledge, clienteling, and in-home services. You will maintain an environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity, in line with our People First Philosophy. This position requires effective communication, organization, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples. You will need to be active throughout the workday, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting medium to large items, up to 75 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, manage register functions and back office procedures.
  • Ensure the store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back of house standards during manager-on-duty shifts.
  • Serve as a Selling Captain, prioritizing customer experience and sales generation.
  • Utilize Selling Essentials and training resources to educate the team on product and improve selling skills.
  • Provide training and coaching expertise to associates in selling, product knowledge, clienteling, and in-home services.
  • Maintain a fair and respectful environment for all associates in accordance with the People First Philosophy.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of retail sales experience with shift supervision experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in home-related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities preferred.
  • Effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples.
  • Ability to be active, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting for extended periods of time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in specialty retail is preferred but not required.
