About the position

The Lead Visual role at West Elm involves supporting the management team by overseeing store operations, ensuring financial goals are met, and providing exceptional customer service. This position requires effective communication and leadership skills to motivate associates and maintain high standards in visual merchandising and store cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, perform register functions and back office procedures.
  • Ensure the store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back of house standards during manager-on-duty shifts.
  • Serve as a Selling Captain, modeling sales generation and customer service for associates.
  • Utilize Selling Essentials and training resources to educate the team on product and improve selling skills.
  • Provide training and coaching to associates in selling, product knowledge, clienteling, and in-home services.
  • Maintain a fair and respectful environment for all associates.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of retail sales experience with shift supervision experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in home-related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities preferred.
  • Effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples.
  • Ability to be active, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in specialty retail is preferred but not required.
