About the position

The Lead Visual role at West Elm involves providing daily support to the management team, ensuring the store meets financial goals, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires effective operational management, including opening and closing routines, maintaining store standards, and training associates in sales and product knowledge. The Lead Visual will also play a key role in fostering a positive work environment aligned with the company's People First philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store, perform register functions and back office procedures.
  • Ensure the store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety, and back of house standards during manager-on-duty shifts.
  • Serve as a Selling Captain, modeling sales generation and customer service for associates.
  • Utilize Selling Essentials and training resources to educate the team on products and improve selling skills.
  • Provide training and coaching to associates in selling, product knowledge, clienteling, and in-home services.
  • Maintain an environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity and respect.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of retail sales experience with shift supervision experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in home-related design, visual merchandising, or stockroom responsibilities preferred.
  • Effective communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and influence others through personal actions and examples.
  • Ability to be active, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and lifting for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in specialty retail is preferred but not required.
