About the position

Penske Logistics is seeking warehouse associates to join their team in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for individuals who prioritize safety and possess a positive attitude, aiming to thrive in a warehouse environment. The position involves supporting and supervising both regular and temporary warehouse associates, working closely with Operations Supervisors to meet productivity expectations and fulfill various responsibilities to ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Primary trainer for Clamp Truck operators (new hires or retraining)
  • Conduct root cause investigations of product placement and associate handling
  • Identify and audit associate processes, coaching on improvements
  • Execute and provide process and project visibility to Operations Supervisor
  • Lead and comply with safety and well-being efforts on assigned shift
  • Stack cardboard boxes and pallets
  • Move materials within the warehouse
  • Package or kit finished products for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
  • Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system
  • Complete daily logs
  • Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing station or shipping department
  • Use computer to enter records
  • Maintain inventory records
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment (where applicable)
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • 4 years of warehouse experience required
  • 2 years of inventory or materials management experience preferred
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior forklift certification preferred
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software required
  • Flexible to work overtime preferred
  • Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions
  • Ability to lead a small team, work independently, provide customer service, multi-task, and manage time effectively required
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening required
