The Wireless Engineering team at Cox Communications is at the forefront of planning and deploying our Stand Alone multi-wireless use case 5G Core Platform. We are seeking a Lead Wireless Network Cloud Engineer who will play a pivotal role in providing detailed architectural, design, and implementation documentation and expertise for both virtualized and cloud-native network functions. This position is crucial for the successful deployment of our Common Platform as well as the 5G Production Core. The Lead Wireless Network Cloud Engineer will leverage their extensive knowledge of the wireless industry to drive task completion and oversee projects, reporting directly to the AVP of Wireless Architecture. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for understanding and implementing Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Kubernetes (K8s) along with ancillary cloud-native tools such as Jaeger, ELK Stack, and Prometheus. They will partner with operations team members to prepare low-level designs and configurations, ensuring network reliability, scalability, and standardization. The engineer will also become the subject matter expert on operational needs surrounding common cloud networking, including alerting, automation, and integrations with service ticketing and logging systems. Additionally, the Lead Wireless Network Cloud Engineer will drive the design, build, and testing activities of the Cox 5G Common Core virtualized cloud platform and orchestration. They will be tasked with troubleshooting and diagnosing complex problems within Cox's wireless networks while minimizing customer impacts. The role requires collaboration with peer engineering teams to understand proposed changes and their implications, as well as translating high-level engineering documentation into actionable configurations and test plans. Participation in planned maintenance activities during maintenance windows will also be required.
