About the position

The Lead Writer for Brand Creative at Nike will play a crucial role in shaping the narrative and storytelling for the Global Running brand. This position involves collaborating with various teams to create compelling content that resonates with athletes and embodies Nike's brand values. The Lead Writer will be responsible for delivering high-quality creative concepts, manifestos, and digital campaign content while ensuring that all work aligns with the brand's standards and engages the target audience effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape long-term and seasonal creative concepts in partnership with the Brand Narrative team and Art Direction teams.
  • Deliver best-in-class brand storytelling, including manifestos, social content, digital campaign content, headlines, and scriptwriting.
  • Ensure content meets and exceeds the highest standards: on-brand, culturally aware, sport-authentic, platform right, distinctive, and engaging.
  • Drive brand awareness and deliver strong engagement through creative deliverables.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends in sports, design, culture, and technology relevant to Nike and the writing team.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams including social, art direction, digital design, styling, photography, production, post-production, and marketing throughout the creative process.
  • Plan projects to ensure they are creatively exceptional and delivered on-time.
  • Review project work for quality, consistency, accuracy, and successful completion.
  • Encourage and empower the team in a collaborative manner to produce effective storytelling through a high volume of work.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of writing experience in an agency, brand, or social environment.
  • Passion for athletes, sports, and culture.
  • Deep knowledge of Global Running, including the sport, athletes, and its culture.
  • A portfolio showcasing social and brand writing across platforms with a distinctive voice and expert command of style and tone.
  • Understanding of writing within a brand organization and translating business priorities into engaging consumer-facing content.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience in brand, digital, and social writing with a solid understanding of content platforms.
  • Strong time management skills to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive approach to improving work.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality.
