About the position

The Learning Specialist II at Golden 1 Credit Union is responsible for designing and delivering engaging learning experiences that align with organizational goals and promote a culture of continuous learning. This role involves developing training programs, assessing employee development needs, and ensuring the effective application of learned skills in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Develops technical and behavioral expectation training and objectives.
  • Assesses employee development needs and defines appropriate resources and processes to support learning.
  • Develops unique training programs to support the development of retail and product services departments and their employees.
  • Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Develops strategies to ensure the application and transfer of learned skills and knowledge to the workplace, including post-training activities and assessments.
  • Documents existing internal processes and procedures to create training materials.
  • Creates and updates training procedure manuals, user guides, and learning materials.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts (train the trainer).
  • Maintains records of training and development activities and conducts follow-up studies of completed training to evaluate and measure results.
  • Assists the Manager Learning Operations with developing and maintaining instructional best practices for in-person, virtual, and on-demand formats.
  • Develops and delivers engaging and interactive live, virtual, and on-demand training sessions for employees across the organization.
  • Works effectively with members of management and human resources to create effective learning programs.
  • Monitors, tracks, and reports on organization-wide training programs in addition to specialized training programs that address the learning and development needs of a department, position, and/or functional area.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in learning and development.
  • Adapts and customizes learning content to meet the unique needs of different learner groups.
  • Adapts facilitation style and content delivery based on the needs and preferences of diverse learner groups.
  • Leverages technology to enhance learning experiences, including virtual platforms, the Learning Management System, multimedia, and other interactive tools.
  • Ensures seamless integration of digital resources into the learning process.
  • Administers assessments to measure learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback to participants.
  • Develops evaluation tools and gathers feedback to continuously improve learning programs.
  • Encourages individuals to take ownership of their development and seek opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Education, Training and Development, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilitating learning sessions, curating content for curriculum development, and leading consulting intake conversations, preferably in diverse organizational settings.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and instructional designers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate effective training sessions and create engaging job aids and documents.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work productively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong team skills and ability to work collaboratively with management, peers, and other departments.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • ATD, Sacramento ATD, CSU, or similar Train-the-Trainer certification.
