About The Position

The Leadership Development Associate position in Health Information Management (HIM LEAD) at TriStar Centennial Medical Center is designed to prepare individuals for leadership roles within the Health Information Service Center (HSC) organization. The program combines classroom and field training to enhance management and technical skills, ensuring associates are well-versed in hospital HIM operations and HIPAA compliance. Associates will gain hands-on experience in various specialized areas of the HIM department, working closely with hospital leadership and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or Health Data Analytics.
• 1 year of leadership experience from employment, school, or voluntary capacity.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in data analytics related to health information management.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in classroom and field training to develop management and technical skills.
• Learn all specialized aspects of the hospital HIM Department including HIPAA/Privacy, analysis, EMPI, coding, and general management.
• Work alongside the designated Director, COO, HIM Leadership, and HIM Staff in key operational areas.
• Engage in HIM operational processes such as incomplete record management, HIM transcription, and release of information (ROI).
• Assist in record retrieval and reconciliation, pulling, filing, and retrieval of paper medical records, and managing tumor and trauma registries.
