About the position

The Lean Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in driving process improvements and efficiency within a reputable manufacturing plant in Charlotte, NC. This position focuses on identifying waste reduction opportunities, enhancing inventory management, and improving overall equipment reliability. The engineer will lead continuous improvement initiatives, conduct training, and utilize data analysis to support operational excellence. This is a permanent, on-site role with a competitive salary and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and facilitate process improvement projects and kaizens to reduce waste and improve inventory management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and teams, interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Conduct training to drive cultural change through 'learn by doing' exercises and workshops.
  • Conduct advanced data collection and analysis for value stream mapping and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and conduct compliance audits and program evaluations to ensure permanent change.
  • Develop and document standard work and operational processes.
  • Enable successful execution of daily management processes, including SQDCI daily gemba walk.
  • Support material flow improvements in scheduling and material handling methods.
  • Support TPM and SMED tool deployment to improve machine uptime.
  • Work with floor Supervisors & hourly Team Members to drive efficiency improvements.
  • Support the development and execution of the annual strategy deployment and capital implementation plans.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
  • Perform cost analysis for decision making in make vs. buy scenarios.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 2 years of comprehensive lean experience.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP software, preferably AS/400.
  • Experience with non-destructive inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and root cause analysis methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and safety instructions.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to various levels and audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with algebra, geometry, trigonometry, physics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
