About the position

The Learning Experience Design Specialist (NWS 00703) position at North Wind Services is a short-term, 2-month contract role focused on enhancing national security through effective training and development within the science, technology, and engineering sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and coordinating professional development, onboarding, and compliance training programs for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. This role requires a systematic approach to training and instructional design tailored for adult learners, utilizing human-centered design principles and the latest learning technologies. In this position, the Learning Experience Design Specialist will leverage current instructional design theories and methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and identify appropriate instructional strategies. The role involves designing course goals, learning objectives, and instructional content across various formats, including in-person, virtual, and eLearning. The specialist will utilize course authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate to create engaging online learning solutions that meet the design team's specifications and standards. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all learning solutions are accessible, current, and delivered on schedule. This includes conducting ongoing maintenance of courseware, monitoring changes in policies, and implementing instructional design changes as necessary. The role requires strong collaboration with subject matter experts and team members to prioritize training requests and establish program objectives. The Learning Experience Design Specialist will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines while adapting to evolving organizational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, and coordinate professional development, onboarding, and compliance training programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, or related field.
  • Significant experience implementing instructional technology models and designs.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with course authoring software such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
  • Advanced knowledge of instructional design and learning development projects.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications for multimedia design.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Canva.
  • Basic understanding of animation concepts.
  • Experience with video editing tools like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
