About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist will be a key member of the Human Resources team at Sunset, focusing on the training and development of employees. This role involves evaluating and delivering comprehensive training programs, developing a cohesive training strategy, and serving as a primary HR contact for employees. The specialist will ensure that employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles, while also addressing skill gaps and improving employee retention.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze internal and external information to stay up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices related to employee development and performance.
  • Identify skill or knowledge gaps among employees and work with the VP of HR to develop training content to address these needs.
  • Coordinate training tools and delivery mechanisms based on the material being taught and the target audience.
  • Create and maintain course content, manuals, and other training materials and resources.
  • Assess the impact of training programs by measuring employee understanding of the subject matter.
  • Develop and implement strategies to track employee retention metrics and analyze turnover data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to create and execute initiatives aimed at improving employee retention, such as enhanced onboarding processes and regular check-ins.
  • Provide support and resources for managers to help them better understand and address the needs of their team members, including training on effective communication and conflict resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in human resources or training development.
  • Experience generating and analyzing data, making presentations, and managing processes.
  • Experience working in Microsoft 365.
  • Understanding of working with a learning management system and HRIS system.
