About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees through effective training and development programs. The specialist will also facilitate learning events, whether in-person or virtually, and will be expected to review and evaluate the effectiveness of the programs implemented. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing needs within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Consults with customers to determine appropriate solutions for business needs.
  • Conducts needs analysis to determine performance and engagement objectives.
  • Uses probing questions to determine the root cause of issues or needs for organizational development, learning, or engagement experiences.
  • Gathers content material from subject matter experts and performs research as needed.
  • Designs, develops, and implements programs or solutions that meet customer needs based on analysis.
  • Creates and delivers effective in-class and virtual instructor-led classes, eLearning, job aids, and performance-support materials as appropriate.
  • Utilizes rapid instructional design tools and processes, adult learning theory, and experience to develop and deliver effective training solutions.
  • Provides technologically innovative, engaging, and instructionally sound learning deliverables.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and reports on program or solution effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant work experience in learning and development or a related field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and its application in training.
  • Experience in conducting Training Needs Analysis to identify performance gaps and learning needs.
  • Strong consulting skills to influence and manage relationships with clients.
  • Proficiency in Educational Multimedia and Instructional Design principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with e-learning software and multimedia production tools.
  • Familiarity with various adult learning methodologies and instructional design models.
  • Certification in Learning and Development or related fields.
