About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees within Reckitt's manufacturing operations. This position involves collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess the technical knowledge and skills necessary for job performance. The specialist will utilize principles of instructional design, adult learning, and curriculum development to create and implement a comprehensive training program aimed at ensuring workforce readiness for advanced manufacturing operations. This program will be essential for new employee onboarding and ongoing career development, requiring close collaboration with site leaders, associates, and other training specialists. The role is structured around a Monday to Friday schedule, with flexibility to support off shifts as needed. The specialist will be responsible for delivering and sustaining training initiatives that enhance employee retention, engagement, and overall business performance. This will involve using various training mediums, including hands-on training, classroom instruction, on-the-job training, e-learning, and virtual sessions. Additionally, the specialist will support talent pipeline and leadership development programs, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key responsibilities include coordinating and tracking annual training plans for plant employees, developing and reporting on key metrics related to training and development, coaching and training others involved in hands-on training, and leading Certified Trainers in their daily scheduling. The specialist will also be tasked with developing training content and materials, ensuring that training meets skill assessment requirements, and reviewing and updating training matrices to keep them current. Continuous auditing of employee practices will be necessary to ensure compliance with updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other relevant documentation. Participation in internal and external continuing education programs will also be expected annually, along with leading the Train the Trainer program.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and sustain training initiatives and programs that drive retention, employee engagement and business performance.
  • Use a variety of mediums: hands-on training, classroom, on the job, e-learning, and virtual.
  • Support talent pipeline and leadership development programs with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Coordinate and track annual training plans for plant employees to include safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and report on key measurements related to training, onboarding, retention and development.
  • Coach and train others across the operation that are involved in hands-on training, orientation and onboarding.
  • Provide and lead Certified Trainers through day-to-day scheduling to maximize benefit to WSC.
  • Coordinate needed training sessions (individual and teams) with department supervisors.
  • Develop training content and materials while ensuring employee training and learning is met with skills assessments.
  • Design and integrate competency verification/validation processes.
  • Review new employee performance to ensure expectations are consistently matched.
  • Review and update the training matrix to ensure it stays up to date.
  • Work with supervisors to provide training support on issues that arise.
  • Review SOP, JA, WI, etc as they are updated and adjust training needs as required along with continually auditing employee practices to ensure compliance.
  • Participate in internal and/or external continuing education programs annually.
  • Lead Train the Trainer program.

Requirements

  • Skilled verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with lean, safety, quality manufacturing concepts, processes, and workforce training methods.
  • Associates degree (or equivalent education and/or experience) in manufacturing, training, lean, continuous improvement, industrial safety, HR, or instructional design.
  • Minimum 3 years food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - specifically verbal communications.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work all 3 shifts.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
