About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at Amwins Group, Inc. is tasked with building, implementing, and managing a comprehensive organizational learning and development program aimed at enhancing overall company performance and employee engagement. This role is pivotal in designing and outlining internal training programs, driving their implementation, managing adherence to the training plan, and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs to ensure alignment with company goals. The specialist will collaborate closely with leadership to establish instructional goals and ensure that learning materials and curricula are in sync with those objectives. In this position, the specialist will work with subject matter experts and leaders to identify the training needs of the target audience and recommend training strategies tailored to specific projects, subjects, roles, or departments. A significant part of the role involves developing and implementing consistent learning plans to ensure that new employees are well-acquainted with AEU's products, services, and culture during their onboarding process. The specialist will also analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design to create effective training materials that resonate with employees. The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external resources to design and create engaging learning materials for various delivery formats, including on-demand virtual Learning Management System (LMS) learning, live virtual learning, and in-person sessions. They will leverage multimedia elements and interactivity to enhance the learning experience and develop assessments to measure the effectiveness of the training materials. Continuous feedback will be gathered to make necessary modifications, and an annual review of content will be conducted to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Additionally, the specialist will support learning facilitation by developing facilitation guides and leading train-the-trainer sessions when appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to establish instructional goals and ensure alignment of learning materials and curricula.
  • Identify target audience training needs and recommend training strategies at various levels.
  • Develop and implement onboarding plans for new employees to familiarize them with AEU products, services, and culture.
  • Analyze trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design to create effective training materials.
  • Design and create engaging learning materials for various delivery formats, including virtual and in-person learning.
  • Develop assessments to measure the effectiveness of learning materials and maintain organized project documentation.
  • Work with the LMS administrator to ensure learning materials are updated and accessible.
  • Gather continuous feedback and conduct annual reviews of content for updates.
  • Establish timelines and monitor learner completion progress, providing status reports to leaders.
  • Support the creation of facilitation guides and assist with learning facilitation as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Learning and Development Specialist or similar position in a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design techniques.
  • Proficiency in e-learning instructional design software and learning management systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Naturally inquisitive with the ability to connect business objectives with learning needs.
  • Collaborative team player with active listening skills.

Nice-to-haves
