About the position

The Learning & Development Specialist at Sycuan Casino is responsible for delivering training programs that enhance team member skills and improve guest experiences. This role involves conducting needs assessments, creating training materials, and evaluating program effectiveness to align with organizational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, and simulations.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of training like onboarding, orientation, and skills training for team members.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Assists with supporting departmental training requests.
  • Creates and maintains a monthly Learning and Development Training Calendar.
  • Creates and/or maintains training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials as needed.
  • Assesses training materials prepared by instructors.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback, making recommendations to key stakeholders regarding program adjustments as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least two years of corporate training experience
  • Ability to present concepts and ideas in a clear, concise and engaging manner
  • Excellent writing proficiency
  • Excellent creative writing and visual design skills
  • Ability to research, compile and analyze data
  • Record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency developing Power Point designs and presentations
  • Database/LMS management skills
  • Detail-orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training experience in a hospitality, retail, or food and beverage-related industry
  • Instructional Design experience
