About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at Aluminum Precision Products (APP) is responsible for enhancing employee capabilities through the development and implementation of training programs. This role focuses on identifying training needs, improving employee retention, and fostering engagement within the company culture. The specialist will collaborate with leadership to align employee development strategies with organizational goals, ensuring continuous improvement in employee performance and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive Employee Development strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee strategic initiatives to enhance employee retention and engagement.
  • Analyze employee data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Design and deliver learning and development programs that address skill gaps, enhance employee capabilities, and support career progression.
  • Measure the effectiveness of retention and engagement strategies.
  • Utilize a variety of training methods (workshops, mentoring programs, online courses) to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Gather feedback from employees and leadership to continuously improve the learning and development experience.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across APP to develop effective training content.
  • Administer and evolve in-house training program to keep with current business needs.
  • Evaluate, measure and report results of employee trainings and development programs on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide ongoing career support and mentoring for both new and existing employees.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the company culture, promoting and embodying APP's values through daily interactions.
  • Improve and maintain onboarding process for new hires.
  • Implement various employee engagement activities for both new and current employees.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of employee development programs and cultural initiatives.
  • Utilize data and feedback to refine programs and ensure they remain relevant and impactful.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with the company's vision and mission.
  • Exercise appropriate judgement in establishing priorities and resolving routine matters, considering the relative cost and benefits of potential actions.
  • Comply with all APP, Inc. safety rules and company policies.
  • Stay informed of current trends in employee development and culture building, recommending and implementing best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Combination of training, education, and work experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to influence decision-making and gain buy-in for HR initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate complex HR concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Active listening skills and the ability to understand and manage emotions.
  • Strong understanding of APP's business strategy and how HR can contribute to achieving APP's goals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and implement HR practices accordingly.
  • Familiarity with APP's HRIS (Dayforce) and other relevant HR technology tools.
  • Ability to analyze HR data and translate it into meaningful insights for business leaders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with facilitating employee engagement activities and development/implementation/presentation of programs.
