About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for the development and execution of training, talent development, and performance management initiatives. This position requires a keen analytical mindset to interpret talent data and provide actionable insights to HR leaders. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills, enabling them to work effectively across various departments. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Training and Talent Development, the specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for Team Members across the Corporate Office, Stores, and Distribution Centers. In this role, the Learning and Development Specialist will support the creation of effective learning content and materials, utilizing diverse methodologies to educate and develop Team Members. The learning solutions will encompass in-person training, virtual learning, and self-paced learning options. The specialist will manage the logistics of new hire orientation, ensuring a smooth onboarding process, and will be responsible for updating orientation materials as necessary for all business segments. Additionally, the specialist will maintain accurate records of Team Member development efforts and manage enrollment in various learning programs. Collaboration is key in this position, as the specialist will work closely with the Learning and Development Trainer to assist in the execution of Talent Development programs, including the Performance Management Process and Talent Review. The role also involves partnering with the Instructional Designer to build and maintain learning paths within the Learning Management System (LMS). The specialist will analyze training program effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in learning initiatives. Overall, this position is integral to fostering a culture of learning and development within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of effective learning content and materials using various methodologies.
  • Manage and execute scheduling logistics for Home Office new hire orientation.
  • Lead delivery of new hire orientation when needed and update orientation materials as required.
  • Proactively suggest enhancements to improve the new hire experience.
  • Manage Team Member enrollment and maintain L&D records of programs/sessions.
  • Maintain training databases and generate reports for the Learning Management System and Performance Management systems.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development Trainer to assist in Talent Development programs.
  • Partner with the Instructional Designer to build and maintain learning paths in the LMS system.
  • Administer follow-up surveys and analyze reports on training program effectiveness.
  • Coordinate training logistics for in-person and virtual learning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the learning and development space, including LMS administration and talent management program support.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Note).
  • Strong technical aptitude, with experience in Oracle or other HRIS configuration preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to engage in public speaking within the corporate environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, hybrid environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and cross-functionally and maintain strong relationships.
  • Ability to persist when dealing with ambiguity and derive creative solutions.
