About the position

Michigan Dining's Learning and Development unit provides employment and out-of-the-classroom learning and development experiences for students, professionals, and our bargained-for staff. Michigan Dining comprises eighteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, a line of Blue to Go foods, the Campus Bakeshop, and the Michigan Catering unit. Our 500 professional and 1,300 student employees are committed to creative, healthy, and nutritious foods, international cuisines, and sustainability throughout all dining operations. You will oversee all onboarding programs, safety training, and related departmental policies to maintain training compliance for all Dining professionals and bargained-for staff. In partnership with Learning & Development leadership, you will educate, communicate, and ensure compliance with all required training for professional and bargained-for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all onboarding programs for Dining professionals and staff.
  • Manage safety training initiatives and ensure compliance with departmental policies.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development leadership to enhance training programs.
  • Educate and communicate training requirements to staff and professionals.
  • Maintain training compliance records for all Dining staff.

Requirements

  • Experience in training and development within a dining or hospitality environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of safety training protocols and compliance standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a university dining setting.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Background in human resources or employee development.
