About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at The Hartford plays a crucial role in shaping the professional and leadership capabilities of the organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Organizational Development, this position is designed to support various learning initiatives across the company. The specialist will be responsible for designing and delivering onboarding programs, as well as other learning and development (L&D) initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of the organization. This includes creating cohort programs and providing L&D consultation to individuals and teams, ensuring that the training provided aligns with the strategic goals of the company. In addition to program design, the specialist will identify and develop learning options that include both online and blended learning solutions. This is aimed at building the overall capability of the organization. The role also involves managing and coordinating training requirements for different levels of the organization, focusing on current and future capabilities, as well as mandatory training needs such as sales and compliance. The Learning and Development Specialist will select and recommend various educational methods, certifications, conferences, workshops, and e-learning courses. They will facilitate regular training sessions focused on soft skills, sales, and management, while also assessing the impact of these training sessions on employee performance. Acting as a liaison with external partners, the specialist will outsource training as necessary and evaluate feedback from both trainees and trainers after each session. Promoting available training opportunities and driving a culture of learning within the organization will also be key responsibilities. Additionally, the specialist will assist with Learning Management System (LMS) input and reporting, and manage the L&D intranet page to ensure that information is relevant and targeted to the appropriate audience.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and delivering onboarding programs and other L&D initiatives in response to changing needs.
  • Providing L&D consultation to individuals, teams, and programs.

  • Selecting and recommending educational methods, certifications, conferences, workshops, and e-learning courses.
  • Facilitating regular soft-skills development, sales, and management trainings.
  • Assessing the impact of training on employee performance.
  • Acting as a liaison with external partners and outsourcing training as needed.
  • Evaluating feedback from trainees and trainers after each session.
  • Promoting and marketing available training opportunities to employees.
  • Assisting with Learning Management System (LMS) input and reporting.
  • Managing the L&D intranet page, ensuring information is relevant and targeted.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Business preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Asset Management or financial services experience preferred.
  • Experience working with leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • Proven experience with talent management and talent development strategies.
  • Strong project management and coaching skills with thorough attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of change management practices, organizational design, and development techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability at developing practical, solution-driven initiatives and effectively implementing and measuring business impact.
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively toward team and organizational goals.

Nice-to-haves
