About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at WMATA plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive learning and development program that aligns with the organization's business objectives. This position fosters a culture of continuous learning and collaborates with various stakeholders to assess training needs, develop effective learning solutions, and evaluate the impact of these initiatives on employee performance and organizational success.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops Learning & Development initiatives using a variety of learning methods.
  • Collaborates with subject-matter experts and vendors to develop training initiatives aligned to the organization's needs.
  • Facilitates training programs, conducts in-person and virtual seminars, workshops, and individual training sessions.
  • Delivers Learning & Development initiatives including facilitation, webinars, and learning circles.
  • Researches new trends and approaches in the learning industry to champion a learning culture.
  • Conducts in-depth client needs assessments to identify gaps between current and desired performance levels.
  • Creates e-learning modules using Articulate 360/Rise and manages content within Learning Management Systems.
  • Oversees the creation of instructional materials, including eLearning modules, job aids, and tutorials.
  • Analyzes information and creates new tools when necessary to support training needs.
  • Plans and coordinates work assignments of professional trainers/external consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Organization Development, Adult Learning, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in training and development, including program design, development, and implementation.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design models like ADDIE.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with various training delivery methods and technologies.
