The Learning Assessment Coordinator (Operations & Policy Analyst 3) position at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) is a full-time role based in Salem, Oregon. This position is crucial in enhancing the quality of public safety training by applying educational principles of learning and assessment to curriculum and instructional practices. The Learning Assessment Coordinator will coordinate all academic and testing accommodations, providing essential learning support to adult students attending the academy. This role also involves developing and supporting academy instructors to ensure the delivery of effective and inclusive training programs. In this capacity, the Learning Assessment Coordinator will work collaboratively with curriculum developers, instructor development teams, and training staff to create a cohesive educational environment. The position requires a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to assess and improve educational outcomes. The coordinator will be responsible for evaluating student and program outcomes, making recommendations for improvements, and ensuring that the training provided meets the diverse needs of all students. Responsibilities

  • Enhance the quality of public safety training by applying educational principles of learning and assessment.
  • Coordinate all academic and testing accommodations for adult students attending the academy.
  • Provide learning support to adult students.
  • Develop and support academy instructors to deliver effective and inclusive training.
  • Collaborate with curriculum, instructor development, and training staff to create cohesive educational programs.
  • Evaluate student and program outcomes and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Design formative and summative learning assessments.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional-level evaluative, analytical, and planning work experience.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of adult learning and educational principles.
  • Experience creating curriculum for adult learners, including project planning and management.
  • Extensive experience developing and assessing learning outcomes.
  • Experience in designing formative and summative learning assessments.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve issues that may arise in this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse subject matter experts to create inclusive curricula.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships while demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
