About the position

The Learning Commons Associate - Supplemental Instruction at Tarrant County College is a part-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and the public. The position involves cross-training in various areas, assisting with clerical tasks, learning lab support, library duties, and other professional responsibilities within the Learning Commons. The associate will play a key role in enhancing learning and engagement by serving as a resource for information and technology, overseeing daily operations, and providing tutoring assistance to students.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource to students, faculty, staff, and the community to enhance learning and engagement.
• Oversee the front desk and assist in daily operations and administrative responsibilities of the Learning Commons.
• Monitor the Learning Commons to ensure user behavior policies are followed.
• Inventory, order, and check in materials and supplies, ensuring safety and security practices are followed.
• Assist patrons with questions regarding technology, computer hardware, and software.
• Provide tutoring assistance to students to enhance learning and increase academic success.
• Prepare and deliver workshops, including content creation and updating materials.
• Assist with maintaining the Library website through content review and maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least twelve (12) completed college hours with a letter grade B in supported target course preferred; cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
• Skilled in customer service, including needs assessment and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and learning strategies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in video editing.
• Familiarity with library resources and technology.
