About the position

The Learning Development Specialist II position at Iowa State University focuses on providing educational development support for a USDA Sustainable Agricultural Systems grant aimed at enhancing the sustainability of dairy goat production in the U.S. This role involves creating both computer-based and in-person educational modules for diverse audiences, including youth, college students, dairy goat producers, and veterinarians, with an emphasis on sustainability and antimicrobial stewardship principles. The successful candidate will coordinate content development with subject matter experts and demonstrate strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess instructional needs related to dairy goat health and sustainability.
  • Provide instruction to participants in various educational settings.
  • Prepare training materials and educational content.
  • Maintain and operate audio-visual equipment and educational software.
  • Solicit feedback from participants to evaluate knowledge transfer and identify areas for improvement.
  • Track attendance of participants in training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in educational development or training.
  • Experience with data management, including analysis and visualization.
  • Expertise in using Canvas for assessment and course design.
  • Experience in organizing and implementing online education and in-person training programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs and workshops.
  • Proficiency in instructional design methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Experience working with diverse audiences, including youth and adult learners.
  • Knowledge related to the dairy industry, animal science, or animal agriculture.
  • Experience in antimicrobial stewardship and science communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with online education platforms and tools.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in agriculture.
