About the position

The Learning & Development Specialist at Everwise Credit Union plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees through the development, planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of a wide range of learning activities. This position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work. The specialist will analyze trends and best practices in learning technology and instructional design, applying principles of adult learning to create effective training programs that align with the credit union's strategic initiatives and culture. The role requires a data-driven approach to measure the effectiveness of learning and development tools, programs, and initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement across the organization. In this position, the specialist will be responsible for coordinating and presenting training programs tailored for various levels within the credit union. They will utilize diverse instructional techniques, including role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures, to engage learners effectively. The specialist will design and develop training content that adheres to instructional design best practices, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency while leveraging active learning strategies that cater to different learning styles and abilities. Collaboration is key, as the specialist will work closely with other members of the training team to develop classroom materials and job aids that facilitate engaging and actionable training experiences. They will also coordinate on-the-job training activities, providing feedback to participants' managers and mentors. Measuring the effectiveness of training through evaluations, assessments, and on-the-job performance will be a critical responsibility, along with identifying training needs based on observations and supervisor feedback. The specialist may also take on additional responsibilities to support the growth and advancement of the credit union.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and present training programs for various levels of the credit union.
  • Deliver content using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Design and develop training content using instructional design best practices, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify appropriate media for both virtual and classroom delivery, leveraging active learning strategies for adult learners.
  • Collaborate with other members of the training team in developing classroom materials and job aids.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training activities, providing feedback to the participant's manager and mentor.
  • Measure the effectiveness of training using evaluations, assessments, and on-the-job performance.
  • Identify training needs of skills-based programs through observation and feedback from supervisors.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the Credit Union.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work skills or experience.
  • Broad knowledge of operations and its impact on both front and back-office applications with at least 3 years' experience in a Financial Institution, Training or Operations function.
  • 4-5 years' facilitation experience such as classroom training, conducting staff meetings, presentations, or leading small groups.
  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in using authoring software preferred.
