About the position

The Learning and Development Specialist at Swope Health Services is responsible for managing the delivery of all learning and development programs. This role includes overseeing the training calendar, scheduling, facilities, and equipment for learning, as well as developing and conducting associate learning programs to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Specialist ensures high-quality training that meets organizational needs and manages the Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate effective learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support the learning and development strategy in alignment with the overall strategic and operational needs of Swope Health.
  • Assess training needs using appropriate methodologies.
  • Evaluate and process learning and development training requests to determine necessary interventions.
  • Promote collaboration, partnerships, and teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Assist with the design, maintenance, and update of training manuals and online learning modules.
  • Select and deliver content and instructional methods appropriate for diverse learners.
  • Incorporate media and technology appropriately in training materials.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of training programs, including new hire orientation.
  • Create and manage a positive learning environment conducive to learning.
  • Deliver training using a variety of instructional techniques.
  • Teach training methods and skills to instructors and supervisors.
  • Evaluate learning performance and instructional effectiveness.
  • Develop evaluation instruments such as questionnaires and exams.
  • Monitor training costs to ensure budget compliance and prepare budget reports.
  • Manage tasks related to the Learning Management System (LMS), including troubleshooting and compiling reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.
  • 1-3 years of experience in learning and development, content creation, or teaching.
  • 1-3 years of experience with learning management technology, LMS, and data entry and reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and principles.
