About the position

The Learning Editor for the Americas at Reuters is a pivotal role focused on designing and delivering training programs that enhance the skills of journalists within the newsroom. This position aims to attract and retain diverse talent by addressing pressing training needs through innovative approaches. The Learning Editor will collaborate with global learning teams and newsroom leaders to ensure that training aligns with editorial and business objectives, ultimately supporting the newsroom's ambition to maintain high journalistic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and coordinate learning programs in consultation with senior editors and the Global Learning team.
  • Work with newsroom leaders to meet editorial and business objectives, focusing on areas such as AI, digital skills, and leadership.
  • Anticipate and identify pressing training needs and suggest innovative training approaches.
  • Produce a variety of learning materials including tipsheets, trainer packs, and e-learning modules.
  • Deliver interactive editorial training in both real and virtual classrooms.

Requirements

  • Extensive newsroom experience.
  • Deep knowledge of editorial systems or willingness to learn them.
  • Understanding of AI and its potential applications in the newsroom.
  • Strong news judgment and storytelling ability across multiple formats.
  • Exceptional people and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles within a newsroom.
  • Familiarity with digital journalism tools and techniques.
