About the position

The Learning Experience Designer at Global Water Center is responsible for creating innovative and effective training programs aimed at enhancing skills in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to design both online and in-person training experiences that are interactive and skill-based, particularly for audiences in low- and middle-income countries. The position requires managing the entire instructional design process and ensuring high-quality training delivery while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design online and in-person training that focuses on skill acquisition for multiple roles across the WASH sector.
  • Work with subject matter experts to design training.
  • Manage all phases of the instructional design process including assessment, design, development, piloting, and evaluation.
  • Design approaches to post-training support.
  • Work simultaneously on multiple projects and ensure work is done with excellence within an agreed upon scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain effective communication with subject matter experts, partner organizations, and team members across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Model GWC's core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
  • Work within cross-cultural environments with an intentional focus on overcoming stereotypes and language barriers.
  • Represent GWC's brand to external audiences including potential funders, partners, subject matter experts, training partners, and training customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, curriculum design or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience in training, design and development.
  • Proven experience in designing interactive skill-based online training.
  • Experience designing training for participants in low- and middle-income countries and learners for whom English, French or Spanish is not a primary language.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), MS Suite, and Google Suite.
  • Experience with other e-learning authoring tools or video and graphic design software preferred.
  • Experience working with a learning management system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Second degree or practical experience in engineering or science preferred.
  • Experience working with a learning management system.
