About the position

The Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator is a temporary, non-tenure track position at Western Nevada College, responsible for the operational oversight of the College's Learning Management System. This role is crucial for supporting outstanding online education and involves managing technical support, system configuration, communication, and training for users. The LMS Administrator will work closely with faculty and stakeholders to ensure effective use of the LMS and to integrate emerging technologies into the educational framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for students and faculty regarding the LMS.
  • Respond to day-to-day problems with logins and account issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 issues related to system functionality.
  • Manage the LMS, including installation, maintenance, and support of integrations.
  • Consult with stakeholders to ensure their needs are met effectively.
  • Collaborate with academic faculty to ensure course content functions properly in the LMS.
  • Provide support for the integration of Open Educational Resources (OERs) into course shells.
  • Troubleshoot emergency issues and provide on-call support during busy periods.
  • Ensure proper configuration and documentation for outstanding service to online learners.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and provide training to users as needed.
  • Write timely reports to support data-informed decisions at all management levels.
  • Adhere to FERPA guidelines related to sensitive data and review user access privileges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computing science, instructional technology, or a related field.
  • Two years of related professional experience providing end-user and technical support for a learning management system or similar application.
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting software and hardware user problems.
  • Application programming, data systems integration, or technical applications training experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience communicating with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers.
  • Canvas LMS experience preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience training others in technical applications.
