About the position

The Learning Solutions Developer at Unum is responsible for creating engaging learning experiences and performance support tools across various business areas. This role combines skills in instructional design, graphic design, and motion design to address complex business challenges through eLearning and blended learning solutions. The position requires collaboration with business partners to ensure effective training methodologies are applied, leveraging adult learning theory to enhance employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with business partners including trainers, subject matter experts, and leadership to identify appropriate training media and methodologies.
  • Design learner-centric eLearning, blended learning, and performance support tools to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Understand learners' wants and needs using personas, empathy maps, and journey maps.
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, videos, audio, and job aids that meet business specifications.
  • Collaborate with business partners to modify and add programs as specifications change.
  • Analyze and implement evaluation methods to measure learning program effectiveness.
  • Establish clear objectives and manage project delivery within timelines and quality measures.
  • Collect and analyze data to communicate findings and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with business partners.
  • Contribute to team practices including planning and reviews.
  • Provide consultative support regarding eLearning and instructional design.
  • Research and apply industry knowledge to enhance learning solutions.
  • Mentor and coach business partners on methodologies and technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent relevant business experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience using eLearning authoring and development tools, preferably Articulate and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • An online portfolio showcasing eLearning materials and designs.
  • Proficient in audio and video capturing and editing tools.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in web, graphic, and instructional design.
  • Solid knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design standards.
  • Understanding of modern web technologies and interaction patterns.
  • Experience designing system simulation training using eLearning tools.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems like Workday Learning or Cornerstone.
  • Proven experience designing for multiple devices (desktop, mobile, tablet).
  • Knowledge of information architecture and user experience design.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is preferred.
  • Strong consultation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities effectively.
