About the position
The Lease Accounting Consultant will play a crucial role in managing lease accounting initiatives for a respected healthcare organization in the Twin Cities. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with ASC 842 standards and involves utilizing CoStar lease management software to maintain accurate records and streamline reporting. The consultant will collaborate with finance and accounting teams, prepare financial reports, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in lease accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the lease accounting process to ensure compliance with ASC 842 standards.
- Utilize CoStar lease management software to maintain accurate records and streamline reporting.
- Collaborate with internal finance and accounting teams to support monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports related to lease obligations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance lease accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide support for audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries.
- Train and mentor staff as needed to build expertise in lease accounting practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
- 5+ years of experience in lease accounting, with a strong emphasis on ASC 842 compliance.
- Hands-on experience with CoStar lease software.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work within a team and liaise with stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a hybrid working environment.
