About the position

The Lease Accounting Manager will oversee the Lease Accounting team within the RE&D Finance department, responsible for managing lease accounting and reporting for Apple's global real estate portfolio. This role involves collaboration with various business partners to ensure compliance with ASC 842 and accurate financial reporting, while also leading a team of Financial Analysts in their accounting and reporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Lease Accounting team and oversee lease accounting and reporting for a global real estate portfolio of over 1600 leases.
• Ensure compliance with ASC 842 for accurate lease accounting worldwide.
• Collaborate with Corporate and Retail Real Estate, Global Business Solutions, and other cross-functional teams.
• Perform senior-level reviews of lease assessments and validate lease accounting treatment assessments.
• Monitor SOX compliance and oversee SOX testing activities.
• Coordinate and monitor team activities in preparing lease analyses and reporting.
• Assist with system and process improvements impacting the Lease Accounting team.
• Support the Lease Payments team in resolving abstraction-related payment issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in lease accounting or financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 842 and lease accounting principles.
• Experience managing a team and leading projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls.
