About the position

The Leasing Assistant position is a full-time role focused on managing the leasing process for affordable rental housing. The individual will be responsible for presenting apartments to prospective tenants, managing marketing efforts for vacant units, and ensuring compliance with HUD regulations. This role also involves administrative support and maintaining safety and health systems for residents and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Present apartments and their amenities to prospective tenants.
  • Manage marketing of vacant units and timely rent collection to meet budgetary goals.
  • Advertise available apartments using various media and promotional materials.
  • Facilitate residents' interviewing and screening process.
  • Understand lease and grievance procedures.
  • Assist the Property Manager in maximizing resident and employee safety and health.
  • Implement procedures for maintaining wait lists and evaluating eligibility and income.
  • Monitor visitors and protect the property to minimize risks.
  • Perform administrative and office support activities, including answering phones and relaying messages.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in affordable property management or LIHTC leasing.
  • Strong verbal, written, and customer service communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of computers including Word and Excel.
  • Some post high school education preferred.
  • Familiarity with Yardi software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations, forms, inspection criteria, and processes.
  • Knowledge of multilayered programs such as RAD, Project Base Section 8, Housing Choice Vouchers, and Tax Credit.

  • Familiarity with Yardi software is a plus.
  • Some post high school education preferred.
