About the position

The Leaves and Workers' Compensation Analyst at UC Irvine plays a crucial role in managing and advising on disability, leave of absence, and workers' compensation matters. The analyst will administer benefits for injured employees, coordinate leave processes, and provide consultation on various employee options, contributing significantly to the university's workforce relations.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel employees and managers on disability, leave of absence, and workers' compensation matters.
  • Administer Workers' Compensation benefits for injured employees, ensuring prompt and adequate treatment.
  • Collect information from injured employees and supervisors regarding their cases.
  • Coordinate programs and education related to workers' compensation and leaves.
  • Manage the leave of absence process, providing consultation and assistance to employees.
  • Evaluate employee options under applicable laws and UC policies.

Requirements

  • Four to five years of progressive experience in benefits, workers' compensation, or leave administration.
  • Training in worker's compensation, benefits, payroll, or related HR services.
  • Thorough knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL, Workers Comp, Military Leave, ERISA, and HIPAA.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to handle difficult issues professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of CA workers compensation and disability insurance programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of state laws pertaining to SDI and federal laws governing SSDI.
  • Familiarity with UCI organization, policies, and procedures.
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM/SHRM-CP, or similar credentials preferred.
  • Professional administrative experience in higher education.
