About the position

The Lecturer in Recreation Management position at Appalachian State University is a full-time, non-tenure track role focused on teaching and supporting the Recreation Management program. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering core courses and contributing to the development of students in the field of recreation management, with an emphasis on hands-on experience and classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes each Fall and Spring Semester, totaling 24 credit hours per academic year.
  • Support required core courses for Recreation Management majors.
  • Assist in supporting one or more of the three Recreation Management concentrations.
  • Attend Recreation Management faculty meetings and other scheduled events.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in parks, recreation, or tourism management, or a related Master's degree.
  • Professional work experience in parks, recreation, or recreational tourism settings, including program development, delivery, or administration.
  • Higher education teaching experience in parks, recreation, or tourism management or a related area.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outdoor experiential education and/or leadership development.
  • Experience in parks, recreation, and tourism site/facility management.
