About the position

The Lecturer of Game Art and Animation at the University of North Texas is a full-time, renewable position focused on teaching and developing courses within the Game Studies and Design major. The role involves delivering core classes in Game Art and Animation, advising students, and participating in departmental committees. The position aims to foster an inclusive and innovative learning environment while contributing to the growth of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 classes per semester in Game Art and Animation.
  • Develop and deliver core courses such as Intro to Digital Content and Animation, Game Production Pipeline, and Capstone classes.
  • Incorporate specialties such as 3D Modeling, Texturing, Pixel Art, and Concept Art into the curriculum.
  • Advise students on academic and career paths.
  • Serve on departmental committees to support program development.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) in Animation, Digital Arts, Game Art, or a related field, or a BFA, BS, or BA in Game Art or Game Animation with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field.
  • Strong background in creating art/animation for successfully shipped video games.

Nice-to-haves

  • MFA, MS, MA, or PhD in Game Art, Game Animation, or a comparable field.
  • Three or more years of experience in the game industries.
  • Teaching experience at the university level.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
