About the position
The Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Cybersecurity at Penn State Harrisburg is a full-time, non-tenure track position focused on teaching undergraduate courses in cybersecurity and network security. The role emphasizes innovative teaching methods, student success, and engagement in scholarly activities. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment and will be involved in service activities that support institutional goals.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, security, and risk analysis, both in-person and synchronously.
- Primary teaching areas include digital networking, network security, cybersecurity, cyber forensics, security and malware analytics, and risk management.
- Secondary teaching areas may include static and dynamic malware analysis, cyber defensive techniques, cybersecurity-related machine learning, programming skills (Java & Python), and database technology.
- Maintain a high level of professional activity through research, scholarship, and service.
- Engage in committee work, advising, community engagement, and mentorship.
- Contribute to DEIB goals and initiatives within the academic community.
Requirements
- Doctorate in cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field with specialization in cybersecurity and network security (preferred).
- Master's degree in cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field with security-related certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, OSCP, CCNA, etc.) are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Commitment to transforming teaching methods and supporting diverse student populations.
Nice-to-haves
