The primary purpose of the Lecturer position in the Department of Biology at UNC Greensboro is to teach undergraduate biology courses and provide academic advising to students. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory biology, introductory biology laboratory, and additional courses in their area of expertise. This role is designed for a Professional Track Faculty lecturer who will engage with students in a dynamic learning environment, fostering their understanding of biological concepts and skills necessary for their professional careers and advanced studies. The Department of Biology is committed to excellence in research and teaching, aiming to prepare students for various professional paths. The lecturer will be expected to contribute to the educational mission by involving undergraduate and graduate students in research activities, thereby enhancing their technical and analytical skills. The teaching load for this position is four courses per semester, which may include specialized courses in areas such as Physiology, Microbiology, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, Developmental Biology, Human Biology, Anatomy, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Genetics. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in departmental committees and outreach activities as part of their professional development. Mentorship will be provided to help the lecturer integrate into the department and enhance their teaching and research capabilities. This position is a permanent, non-tenure track role, and candidates with a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field are preferred, although a Master's degree in Biology or related fields is the minimum qualification required.
