About the position

As a Legal Administrative Assistant at Burress Injury Law PLLC, you will play a crucial role in a high-level and rapidly growing plaintiffs' personal injury firm. This position emphasizes strategizing with attorneys and coordinating with treating physicians, clients, and insurance adjusters. You will be responsible for paying meticulous attention to detail and treating each case uniquely to develop the necessary evidence to maximize claim value for our clients. Your role will involve assisting with the preparation of legal documents and handling all office correspondence, which includes answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. The firm is looking for someone who has experience in a law firm environment and can work well under pressure. This is a rewarding opportunity in the legal industry where you will be expected to support paralegals in all aspects of case management, from sign-up through trial if necessary. You will perform various administrative duties, interact with clients, manage medical records, and retrieve bills. Additionally, you will assist with demand preparation, open records requests, and the preparation and drafting of other documents as requested by supervising paralegals. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, possess prior personal injury pre-suit experience, and preferably be bilingual in English and Spanish. A motivated, self-starter attitude is essential, along with the ability to work well in a team environment. You should be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong commitment to winning for our clients. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to think on your feet and handle sensitive, confidential matters while empathizing with clients. Understanding medical terminology is also a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Support paralegals in all aspects of case management, from sign-up through trial (if necessary).
  • Perform administrative duties, client interaction, medical records, and bill retrieval.
  • Assist with demand preparation, open records requests, and preparation and drafting of other documents as requested by supervising paralegals.
  • Handle all office correspondence including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a law firm environment as a secretary or administrative assistant.
  • Able to type 50 words per minute or faster.
  • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential matters and resolve conflicts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) is preferred.
  • Prior Personal Injury pre-suit experience is preferred.
