About the position

Under direction of the Legal Support Staff Services Manager, Assistant Chief Counsel, General Counsel, and the general direction of Staff Counsel, the Legal Analyst performs various duties including coordinating Petitions for Reinstatement, making preliminary determinations of eligibility for reinstatement, preparing agenda packets for the Commission, scheduling hearings, and monitoring ALJ Proposed Decisions. The role also involves assisting with the Committee of Credentials, including scheduling hearings, creating agendas, recording minutes, and responding to procedural inquiries. Additionally, the Legal Analyst will assist in drafting agency responses to litigation and provide analytical support regarding data and records requests.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all Petitions for Reinstatement and makes preliminary determinations of eligibility for reinstatement for attorney approval.
  • Prepares Petition agenda packets for the Commission.
  • Schedules Petitions for Reinstatement, ALJ Proposed Decisions, transcript reviews, and Decision and Orders for Commission review.
  • Monitors and analyzes ALJ Proposed Decisions from the Office of Administrative Hearings.
  • Assists with preparing the Commission's Closed Session agenda.
  • Schedules hearings before the Committee of Credentials and creates the Committee's agenda.
  • Records Committee meeting minutes as recording secretary.
  • Organizes and prepares all correspondence related to procedures and outcomes for the Committee.
  • Responds to procedural questions from respondents and their counsel.
  • Ensures that all Committee members' Travel Expense Claims are prepared and input into the CALATERS system.
  • Assists with performing analyses and drafting agency responses in conjunction with the Office of the Attorney General.
  • Responds to sensitive inquiries concerning Commission actions and provides analytical support regarding data and records requests.

Requirements
