About the position

The Legal and Business Research Analyst at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP is responsible for providing comprehensive research services to attorneys, consultants, and business development teams within the firm. This role involves conducting in-depth legal and business research, training staff on resource utilization, and supporting the firm's AI initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of legal research databases and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research across all practice groups and business units.
  • Train and support attorneys and business professionals on the efficient use of firm resources.
  • Proactively respond to incoming research assignments, ensuring strong communication, timeliness, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Assist with other research tasks and projects as required.
  • Stay abreast of new products and services, leading demos, trials, resource evaluations, and product recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in law, library science, information science, or a related field.
  • MLIS preferred but equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of research experience in a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in legal research databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, and Bloomberg Law.
  • Strong knowledge of library systems and workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
