About the position

The Junior Legal Assistant position at Kreis, Enderle, Hudgins & Borsos in Portage, MI, is designed for a self-motivated individual who will provide high-quality legal assistant and administrative services. This entry-level role focuses on supporting the legal team with clerical tasks, document preparation, and maintaining organized files, contributing to the efficient operation of the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing accurate and properly formatted legal papers and correspondence from dictation or handwritten drafts.
  • Proofreads and edits documents.
  • Files documents and emails in the Firm's electronic document software.
  • Assists in scheduling appointments, including meetings, conferences, court dates, and depositions for team members.
  • Assists in reviewing, prioritizing, and routing incoming mail.
  • Assists in maintaining current and orderly files according to Firm guidelines.
  • Provides quick retrieval of information, general document control, and updates materials.
  • Closes files and sends to storage following Firm policy.
  • Assists in answering telephone calls.
  • Provides relevant and timely information to clients and team members in a professional, courteous, and effective manner.

Requirements

  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of firm personnel and a variety of external entities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of general administrative experience.
  • Possesses proficient technical user knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Adaptable to learning new software.
