Responsibilities

  • Prepare discovery responses, pleadings, and motions
  • Independently docket dates, deadlines, and reminders
  • Finalize documents and correspondence
  • Serve subpoenas and track progress
  • Issue discovery and manage incoming discovery disclosures and requests
  • Place summonses for service with Sheriff and SPS and track progress
  • Independently draft appropriate notices such as Certificates of Service, Notices of Motion, and Notices of Deposition
  • Prioritize work independently
  • Work from the Chicago office on designated days
  • Take direction and learn the firm's systems and practices

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' legal experience
  • Experience in preparing and serving documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications including Word and Adobe PDF creation
  • Familiarity with Aderant Total Office (ATO); knowledge of Aderant Expert is a plus
  • Experience with Nitro PDF
  • Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time
  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and research skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Odyssey efiling
  • Experience with Pacer/Pacer efiling
  • Knowledge of court procedures in Cook County and outlying counties
